The Gandhashastras are a collection of Sanskrit scriptures on the art of creating cosmetics & scents from plants, fruits, rocks, flowers and naturally available ingredients. Rooted in Ayurveda, it is said that modern day herbal cosmetology has origins in Gandhashastras.
Keeping with their rich legacy and wisdom, we wanted to create a range of cosmetics that would be colorful, conscious and cruelty free. A range of natural products, made for the Indian skin and free from any toxic ingredients.
Thus, was born: the Lip Tiffin. A piece of home away from home.
In a handcrafted silver container resembling the quintessential Indian tiffin, sits a beautiful tint and a shimmery lip balm. Made with ingredients like cranberries, black current, walnut husk, cocoa powder, sandalwood & lotus, the tints have a rich, earthy pigment. And just like a home cooked tiffin nourishes the body, the lip tiffin nourishes the lips & skin.
Most modern lipsticks have lead, heavy metals, artificial dyes and toxic ingredients in them. These chemicals & metals are associated with negative side effects on reproductive & developmental health. For conscious customers who understand the danger of these ingredients, it is important to find clean beauty products for daily use. For many parents, whose teenagers have started using cosmetics, the negative impact of hormone disruptors & toxic chemicals is is worrying.
This is where Anahata steps in. Our range of cosmetics are made using traditional Ayurvedic & Himalayan methods with natural ingredients, which have no harmful side effects to the body. Due to a base of butters like kokam butter, shea butter and mango butter, their application is smooth and hydrating. Deep rich pigments made of fruits, roots and plants make the skin look radiant. Padmaja: Lotus Pink
This shade is an ode to the blush pink of a lotus, the national flower of India. Its bright shade comes from hibiscus powder, cranberry, beetroot, pomegranate and other naturally occurring pigments. It is a buildable tint and makes for the perfect blush! A crowd favorite amongst teenage girls.
Raktavarna: Berry Red
A bold shade that is a signature color for all those who love a red lip. It has a deep-set tint extracted from madder root plant, hibiscus, pomegranate, blueberry, cranberry and other natural pigments. This shade is perfect for a night out and makes for a classic lipstick.
Kapeesha: Classic Nude
With a brownish-nude colour, this tint transitions seamlessly from day to night. Its classic shade comes from walnut husk powder, madder root, Brazil wood bark, chestnut powder and other natural pigments. It suits all skin tones & types and makes for the best eyeshadow!
